Energy Efficiency Engineering Manager | Exton, PA, Boulder, CO or La Crosse, WI 

EcoMetric is a USA, and Canada based consultancy specializing in energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed generation advisory services. Our clients are investor-owned, and publicly owned electric and natural gas utilities, state agencies, non-profit organizations, and large multinational corporations. EcoMetric has snowballed from its nascent stage to a reputable, and full-service energy efficiency consulting firm offering specialized services to influence the end-use customer energy consumption behaviors and choices. We are now interested in expanding our service offerings to include energy auditing, end-user Measurement & Verification, retrocommisioning and other types of building energy engineering services. 

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to manage our existing EM&V contracts with investor-owned utilities and regulators, and expand our services to provide energy audits, recommissioning, and other types of M&V support to Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) and end-users. We are interested in candidates with project management experience and entrepreneurial spirit. EcoMetric is dedicated to the quality of our work and our client relationships. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage Evaluation Measurement & Verification Impact Evaluations with a focus on engineering analysis, and reporting.

  • Conducting on-site inspections & end use metering activities at residential, commercial and institutional facilities. Calculating and verifying savings for energy conservation measures using engineering and statistical techniques.

  • Conducting Energy Audits, Investment Grade Feasibility Studies, and Measurement & Verification in Residential, Commercial and Industrial sectors.

  • Calculating and properly documenting energy savings with TRM algorithms, temperature bin analysis, lighting calculators, eQUEST modeling and other tools.

  • Utilizing and applying statistical, economic and financial analysis tools in support of business and policy analysis for demand-side management in the energy and utility industry.

  • Developing quantitative cost-benefit or risk models.

  • Analyze utility and energy efficiency program data utilizing Excel or other analytical software, identifying trends, summarizing program events, and identifying causal impacts on program results.

  • Work independently or with supervision to manage research projects and participate in research efforts, ensuring consistency and quality of research methods.

  • Conduct primary and secondary research.

  • Meet with clients to present findings and recommendations at client meetings.

  • Document findings visually and verbally for memos and reports to clients and/or internal project teams.

  • Publish papers and other research material.

  • Support senior staff with development of presentations, papers and proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering and related disciplines.

  • 5+ years of experience working in the HVAC&R, and Building Energy Engineering with Demand Side Management (DSM) Consultancies, Energy Service Companies (ESCO), Design-Build firms, or Energy Auditing firms.

  • Strong entrepreneurial drive, ability and willingness to work with senior management to grow a leading global engineering practice.

  • Strong written and oral presentation skills, as well as client interface capabilities.

  • Experience with whole building energy modeling, energy use billing analysis, energy savings calculation algorithms and installing energy use metering equipment.

  • P.E. License is preferred.

  • CEA, CMVP, CBCP certification is preferred.

  • Affiliations with ASHRAE, IEEE and other relevant industry organizations is a plus.

  • Experience/expertise with data analytics is Excel is required. Advanced expertise with macros, VBA, or other data analytics platforms such as python or R, is preferred.

We are looking for a Data Scientist to provide data backed research services to our existing EM&V contracts with investor-owned utilities and regulators. We are interested in candidates with advanced analytical skills, project management experience and entrepreneurial spirit.   • Discover the best methods of cleaning, preparing, and integrating data from several different sources and formats for use in advanced analytics.

  • Synthesize large amounts of energy consumption, market research, and financial data into models and tools that deliver insights for clients.

  • Analyze utility and energy efficiency program data utilizing Excel and other statistical analysis software to identify trends, summarize program events, and identify causal impacts on program results.

  • Work independently or with supervision to participate in research efforts, including on-site inspections, ensuring consistency and quality of research methods.

  • Employ sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning, and statistical methods to prepare data for use in predictive and prescriptive modeling.

  • Build scalable and high-performance machine learning algorithms.

  • Document findings visually and/or verbally for memos and reports to clients and/or internal project teams.

  • Support senior staff with development of presentations and papers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in physics, applied mathematics, economics, statistics, environmental policy, or a related field.

  • Experience with regression and classification techniques such as RF, SVM, LR, time-series models, etc.

  • Programming proficiency with SAS, Stata, Python, and/or R.

  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of VBA programming is preferred.

  • Strong written and oral presentation skills.
